Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
Brooks & Dunn's Last Rodeo Show
(*Taken from Houston Chronicle Page)
This is their 19th and final show at the Houston Livestock
Show and Rodeo
We saw them when they were starting out at the Washington County Fair ~ almost 20 years ago.
You would never know it was March in Houston, Texas ~
IT was freezing cold and rainy.
Papa stayed home with Brianna.
We took the train from the park n ride to the Rodeo:
Almost immediately the Bronco Riding started and there was a terrible
accident. The horse and rider both went down
and neither could get up. The Sports Medicine Docs and Safety Committee
volunteers surrounded the cowboy and the horse handlers and
the Rodeo Vet took care of the horse. They both left on stretchers.
(*On a sad note ~ Sunday in the Houston Chronicle it said:
A bronco rider broke his leg and the bucking horse was euthanized following a
fall during Saturday competition at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
B. M. was treated at an area hospital, and Slugger was determined to have
a lower lumbar fracture, an injury that the horse
could not have survived, rodeo officials said.
The horse was evaluated by the rodeo's veterinarian, Dr. Greg Knape. The
horse's owner approved the euthanasia, officials said. )

Rodeo then continued
As we were sitting there a golf cart comes down the aisle
and out comes
Former President George Herbert Walker Bush & wife Barbara. they were only
a few aisles away.
He was waving at the crowd and both he and Barbara seemed to enjoy waving
at all the crowd.
He went out to join the Calf Scramble with the kids. He got a standing
ovation. He then
returned to his seat to enjoy the rest of the rodeo with Barbara.
Kix Brooks & Ronnie Dunn
